Fokker F27 Freindship

Fokker F27 Freindship of which over 621 were sold was considered the most successful turbo-prob in the world. It was designed as a replacement and successor to the DC-3.

Short-to medium-range commercial transport. First Srs. 500 flown November 15, 1967 Production currently standardising on Srs. 500 and 600. Orders for the Friendship (including 205 licence-built in the USA by Fairchild) totalled 623 by beginning of 1975 when production rate was two per month.

By comparison with basic Srs. 200 (see 1968 edition), the Srs. 500 has a 4 ft 11 in (1.5 m) fuselage stretch. The Srs. 400 “Combiplane” (see 1986 edition) and the equivalent military Srs. 400M (illustrated above) are convertible cargo or combined cargo-passenger versions of the Srs. 200, and the current Srs. 600 is similar to the Srs. 400 but lacks the reinforced and watertight cargo floor.
