Short-range commercial transport. The prototype Fellowship Mk. 6000 (the fuselage of the prototype Mk. 2000 and the modified wings of the second Mk. 1000 prototype) flew September 27, 1973. and production deliveries are scheduled for early 1975. Some 90 F.28s had been ordered by the beginning of 1975 with production tempo currently building up from 1.7 to two per month by early 1976.
The Fellowship Mk. 6000 is a derivative or ow stretched-fuselage Mk. 2000, offering improved field performance and payload/range capabilities. Wing span is increased by 4 ft 1 1 ½ in 1,50 m), three-section leading-edge slats are added to each wing, and an uprated, quieter version of the Spey engine is employed. Similar changes to the basic (shorter-fuselage) Fellowship Mk. 1000 will result in the Fellowship Mk. 5000. All four variants of the Fellowship are to be offered in parallel.
