The Society for Aerospace Studies (SAS) was incorporated at New Delhi on 25 May 1984. This ‘think-tank’ based in New Delhi is continuously involved with projects concerning the Indian aerospace industry with several initiatives including focused seminars on aspects of interest to the Indian Aviation Industry, the Indian Air Force and Indian Naval Aviation. The Society has published numerous books including the definitive history of the Indian Air Force (Himalayan Eagles), released by Marshal of the Air Force Arjan Singh in 2006 and then Chief of the Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal Shashi Tyagi. Various other books published by The Society for Aerospace Studies include Diamonds in the Sky (60 years of HAL), History of Aviation in India : Spanning the Century of Flight, apart from many on individual squadrons of the Indian Air Force and a consolidated history of Indian Naval Aviation.
