First of four prototypes flown on October 26, 1973, with last flying on October 11, 1974. Planned production of approx. 200 each for Armee de I’Air and Luftwaffe with deliveries commencing late 1976. Thirty-three ordered by Belgium with deliveries commencing mid-1977. The Alpha Jet is to have two final assembly lines (Toulouse and Munich) and will serve with the Armee de I’Air in the training role and for close support with the Luftwaffe.
