On the 1st October 1955, the Czechoslovakian government presented an example of the Super Aero (IL816) to Prime Minister Nehru at a ceremony at Palam airport. The four-seat light cabin monoplane was operated and maintained by the Indian Air Force for a short while and subsequently re-located at the B.R.D., Kanpur.
Notes :
The Super Aero, being a refined Aero 45, was built by the former Aero factory at Vysocany, the first flight of the series taking place in July 1947. The Aero 45 was exported to France, Switzerland and several other countries.
