Two-seat primary trainer, forward air control and light close support aircraft. Prototype flown (as MFI 15) on July 11, 1969 with first of 12 pre-production (Safari/Supporter) aircraft following on April 9. 1973. Initial production batch of 65 begun July 1974 with deliveries scheduled from February 1975. Safari (originally MFI 15) is civil equivalent of Supporter (originally MFI 17), 45 of the latter having been ordered by Pakistan.
