Light utility and business executive aircraft. Seating for pilot and five passengers in side-by-Side pairs. Dual controls standard. The P.688 differs from the original P.68 (see 1973 edition) primarily in having a 6-in (15-cm) extension in the fuselage lust aft of the cockpit, improved instrumentation and an increase in gross weight. Certification of a version with a retractable undercarriage is scheduled during the course of 1975, and it is anticipated that versions of the P.68 will be offered with either 180 or 200 hp engines and either fixed or retractable undercarriages.

First prototype P.68 flown on May 25. 1970, followed by 13 pre-production aircraft. all of which had been completed by early 1974. when, after transfer to a new factory. production continued with the P.688. six having been completed by mid-year. Production rate of three-four per month by beginning of 1975.
